As an animal lover, we are reaching out to you for help. Orana Wildlife Park (a registered charity) is NZ’s only open range zoo that is home to over 70 species of endangered wildlife from NZ and the world, including NZ’s only Gorillas. Over 95% of our income is from visitor entry fees.
During lockdown, like many organisations, we have no visitors and no income apart from the government’s partial wage subsidy (which covers only 40% of our essential operating costs). Unlike many organisations, the high costs of maintaining the care and welfare of our 400 precious animals continues during lockdown.
These costs are impossible to put on hold and include: enormous food bills (e.g. our lovely gorillas alone munch through $800 worth of vegetables every week), huge electricity bills to keep our animals warm in the cooler weather and essential veterinary costs. Our important NZ native conservation work continues, such as Kiwi chicks have recently hatched and must have access to heated brooder units in these crucial early stages.
Please help us continue caring for our beloved animals, many of which are endangered species, by purchasing an admission voucher here on 'SOSbusiness' now for redemption when we open. Click here to learn about our great value Annual Pass!
Stay safe and thanks for being a friend of Orana.
